Install Kautuka.
Choose Linux x64 or Windows. On Windows, the installer prepares Kautuka for you; you do not need to install Podman. On Linux, agent chat needs Podman. Then choose your AI, set up an agent, and invite your team.
System requirements
- Linux x64 with Podman, or Windows through the WSL appliance (the installer sets up its prerequisites).
- A model provider.
Runs on modest hardware
Runs smoothly on a 4 GB Intel Core M tablet (Acer T300 Chi) using a cloud model. Local models through Ollama need more memory.
Downloads
Download the latest stable files from Kautuka Releases on GitHub.
- Windows: Kautuka.Installer.exe
- Linux: install script or kautuka-linux-amd64.tar.gz.
Linux installation uses one terminal command: curl -fsSL https://github.com/devkrity/kautuka/releases/latest/download/kautuka-install-linux.sh | sudo bash. Install Podman first. If SHA-256 hashes are published, compare with sha256sum FILENAME (Linux) or Get-FileHash FILENAME -Algorithm SHA256 (PowerShell).
Install on 64-bit Linux
Install Podman using the official instructions, then run the command above or download and unpack the tarball.
Install on Windows
Download and open Kautuka.Installer.exe. Podman is not required separately.
The installer verifies the signed release manifest and artifact hashes. The Windows executable itself is not Authenticode-signed.
Set up your team
- Open Kautuka and create the first administrator account.
- Choose AI that runs on the appliance or an online AI service.
- Set up an agent and choose which tools it can use.
- Invite your team and choose which agents each person can access.
Kautuka needs an AI option and an agent configured before you can use it. Keep the appliance online for background work.
Continue with choosing your AI, setting up an agent, and running your first task. Read the security guide to understand where prompts and connected-service data go.
